Every ranch has it – and just like the game of “Telephone” many of us played as kids, every message loses a little bit of its integrity the more it gets passed along.
Recently V8 Ranch manager, Jim Williams, headed on down to Jim Wells County to ship some calves from our ranch in Premont, Texas. He stopped by the livestock auction barn and started chatting with a fellow rancher who noticed his V8 Ranch cap.
This fine gentleman mentioned he was interested in getting a V8 herd bull but had been told there were many restrictions, so he bought two different bulls out of Wharton County. Jim scratched his head at that – after all, since the ranch’s inception in 1944, when you buy an animal from V8 Ranch, it’s yours to do with as you wish.
Some ranches do have restrictions with what you’re able to do with the animal you purchase from them, but at V8, we believe that when you buy an animal, it’s yours.

IF I BUY A V8 RANCH BRAHMAN BULL, CAN I SELL ITS SEMEN?
Yes, you can sell the semen of a V8 bull you purchase from us. We want you to be as successful as possible, so when you buy a Brahman herd bull from us, you get to make the most of your investment—in whatever way suits you and your business.
IF I BUY A V8 RANCH BRAHMAN HEIFER, CAN I BREED IT?
When you buy a Brahman female from us, not only are you buying a top quality animal that’s been genetically bred to deliver for you, we want you to breed it! Brahmans have many more years of fertility than other cattle, so when you invest your hard earned money with us, we are available to you day-in and day-out to help ensure all your questions are answered , so you feel completely supported as you raise and care for that female and her progeny—at no additional cost.
CAN I BUY A COW, FLUSH IT, AND SELL THE EMBRYOS?
If you want to buy a Brahman cow from us, then flush it and sell the embryos, that’s 100% A-OK with us. We believe in community over competition, so when you buy a V8 animal, it becomes your animal. And you do whatever you wish with your animal!
CAN I RESELL A V8-BRED BULL OR COW?
Yes, you may resell a Brahman bull or Brahman cow you buy from V8.
Just recently V8 Ranch customer, Dr. Marty Tanner, re-sold two of his Brahman cows he purchased from us as heifer calves. As he continued to grow his herd and add more V8 females to his donor pool, Dr. Tanner decided he needed to make more room for recips. These two females sold for $51,000 – a pretty good return. In fact, we’ve seen that the value of V8 cattle only increases with time.
ARE THERE ANY HIDDEN FEES ASSOCIATED WITH BUYING CATTLE FROM V8 RANCH?
There are ZERO hidden fees associated with buying Brahman cattle from us. We’re hearing rumblings of this “nickel and diming” trend in our industry, it’s not the V8 way.

- We don’t charge you for marketing.
- We don’t charge you for promotion.
- We don’t charge you for education.
- We don’t charge you for post-purchase support.
We don’t charge you for anything other than the purchase price of your Brahman when you buy an animal from us.
