We wanted to share with you our decision on changing up our spring bull sale.
We aren’t having a bull sale this spring.
Typically we have an online sale every spring and fall featuring the bulls from our most recent ranch bull test. Over the last few years, this sale has been very successful, with our prices being honestly more than we ever imagined.
That’s a good thing, but also somewhat of a bad thing, and here’s why.
We are in the bull business. And there are ranches that have bought bulls from us for 30 years or more. But a lot of those are $5000 to $7500 bulls. There isn’t a bull in our bull sale that sells below $10,000. We are so thankful for that, but, we feel we might be doing a disservice to those longtime customers.
And, honestly, a lot of our real world ranching bull buyers don’t want to bid in an online sale. Heck, they might not even have an iPhone. They want to come to the ranch like they’ve done for the past 30 years and visit with Brandon, Dad, or Dadaw and pick out their bulls. They want to spend an afternoon going through the bulls in person. And we like that. We love those personal contacts and personal connections. These clients are friends for life, and sometimes you just don’t get that in an online sale – as great as they are and as much as they’ve helped us.
So, this spring, we’ve decided to scrap the bull sale and go back to our old way of selling – private treaty. This allows us dedicated personal, one-on-one time to our loyal customers and kinda go back to the “way we’ve always done it.” We will still be having an online heifer sale, but to better serve our commercial bull buyers, we’re going back old school. We will still also continue with our fall bull sale being online, but the spring bull sale will be just private treaty.
We have 18 bulls for sale that normally would have been in the online sale. They are all priced from $5,000 to $20,000 based on the expert opinions of Brandon, Jim, Dadaw and Kolten. This method allow us to still get the sale proceeds we would from an online sale, but with set pricing and not through an online bid off.
Of the 18 bulls for sale, 12 are low birthweight. These are the bulls that would be good for Angus, Hereford or other crossbreeding.
The sires represented are just like what would be in the bull sale:
- Mr. V8 194/7
- Mr. V8 604/7
- Mr. V8 191/7
- Mr. V8 458/7 “Noble”
- Mr. V8 135/7
- Mr. V8 751/7
- Mr. V8 750/7
- Mr. V8 948/6
- Mr. V8 596/7
Dams represented include out stellar lineup of cow power as you would expect. Dams include:
- Miss V8 232/8 (830 daughter)
- Miss V8 197/7 (Karu daughter)
- Miss V8 962/7 (901 daughter)
- Miss V8 382/7 (Houston champion)
- Miss V8 49/8 (380 daughter)
- And more!
Also just as you would expect from an online sale, all bulls have full performance information including full performance and carcass ultrasound data. There are polled bulls, scurred bulls, performance bulls, carcass bulls, low birthweight bulls, dark pigmented bulls, etc. This is definitely a set worth driving down to look at.
The only difference is they all are priced private treaty instead of a bid off.
