At V8, ranching is a family affair, and it has been for generations. That philosophy extends to our participation in industry associations, including ABBA, the American Brahman Breeders Association.
Founded in 1924 as the official breed registry of American Brahman cattle in the U.S., ABBA was originally created to maintain parentage and ownership records of American Brahman cattle. At least one member of the V8 Ranch family has been an active member of ABBA since the early 1940s. And, both Sloan Williams and Jim Williams are past presidents of the organization, serving ABBA from 1985-1987 and 2003-2005, respectively. Jim Williams, like all past presidents, holds a lifetime seat on the ABBA Board of Directors.
Over the years, ABBA has expanded its reach to include a wide array of programs and services for its members. Today, ABBA is recognized as a leading beef cattle association offering member services, genetic and performance tools, educational opportunities, and more.
ABBA SUMMER MEETINGS HELD IN COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS
With the primary goal of enhancing members’ knowledge and profitability, ABBA committees and the elected ABBA Board of Directors meet regularly to plan initiatives that will further the mission of the organization and the future of American Brahman cattle.
This summer, Jim and Luann Williams (Luann has also devoted years of service to ABBA), and Luke and Catherine (Williams) Neumayr headed to College Station (Gig ’em Aggies!) to reunite with other ABBA volunteers for the ABBA 2021 Summer Board of Directors and Committee Meetings.
Earlier in 2021, Catherine Williams Neumayr was appointed to the Communications Committee. She says: “It is an honor to serve the Brahman community as a volunteer for an organization that has meant so much to Brahman ranchers over the years. I grew up witnessing the time and energy my grandparents and my parents devoted to furthering the mission of ABBA, so I know it is both a great privilege and a great responsibility to be appointed to this role.”
Both a lifelong rancher and a professional photographer, Catherine’s background is well-suited to promoting the Brahman breed. She has considerable experience in graphic design, including print ads, websites, and catalogs. She manages multiple websites and social media accounts and oversees the marketing at V8 Ranch with her husband, Luke. “I’m excited about the ideas the Communications Committee is currently exploring,” continues Catherine, “and I look forward to helping to bring them to fruition. ABBA believes that a rising tide lifts all ships, and we look forward to helping ranchers and breeders of all sizes reach their highest potential.”
