+Miss V8 165/4

"The Champion Maker"

+Miss V8 165/4, born in 1990, is a prime example of the many outstanding daughters produced by +Mr. V8 666/3 in the ’90s. While we’d never underestimate the value of a top sire, we truly believe in the power of cow families to make the most impressive offspring. So, who was the dam of the mighty +Miss V8 165/4? She’s +Lady Bevo 910, from the Herman Beville herd. Our good friend Marcus Shackelford, who was extremely familiar with the Beville herd, had identified 910 as its top heifer. He and Sloan bought her for the V8 herd—the rest is history!

+Miss V8 165/4 is a very powerful female, what we call a herd bull maker. Among her direct descendants are many great champion bulls and cows, and her family is one we’re deeply proud of.

Origin Story

Bred and raised by V8, through historical research, we’ve traced this cow family back to our original 1944 herd—beginning with the foundation female Betty Lou 44 and her daughter Miss V8 9th.

Famous Sons and Daughters

165 produced many notable offspring, including +Miss V8 73/5, a (+)JDH Charley Manso 590/6 daughter and 1997 International Champion. +Miss V8 73/5 went on to be a prodigious producer for Alice Heitman of Horsegate Ranch. When V8 Ranch had the opportunity to flush +Miss V8 73/5, her mating to Superstroke gave us the phenomenal flush mates +Miss V8 38/6 and Mr. V8 730/5, also known as “Tomcat.” Tomcat was purchased by Satterfield Ranch and named International Champion Bull in 2004.
Like we said, +Miss V8 165/4 had many notable progenies. Another famous daughter is +Miss V8 780/5, the 2001 International Champion Female (sired by +Mr. V8 901/4), who is a Register of Renown female and has been a top producer for us—nearly 50 offspring recorded in ABBA!
Yet another noteworthy descendant from this cow family is +KF Progeny’s Success 40/0, the foundation herd bull for Carolyn Falgout. Carolyn purchased him as an embryo from the San Rafael Ranch dispersal, and he’s come to be the backbone of her program. He was named the ABBA Show Bull of the Year in both 2002 and 2003, and has produced several champions for her farm. Progeny’s Success has been used to great effect in both red and grey herds; he is, in fact, the sire of the 2010 and 2011 Red Show Bull of the Year, Carolyn’s “Dozer” bull.
