Since 2016, V8 Ranch has selected a Bull of the Year—a title reserved for an elite young sire we believe will make a lasting impact on the breed. We’ve built our legacy on powerful cow families and legendary sires, selecting only the most elite Brahman bulls to carry the title of V8 Ranch Bull of the Year. 

For 2025, that honor goes to Mr. V8 316/9—a bull whose pedigree, performance, and presence make him a standout among his peers.

A V8 Superblend™, Mr. V8 316/9 brings together two of the ranch’s most influential cow families. He is sired by +Mr. V8 146/8 “Sloan”, one of the most recognized and more widely used Brahman AI sires in modern Brahman breeding, and out of Miss V8 997/6, the most prolific female currently at V8 Ranch with more direct daughters in production than any other cow. She is also the dam of +Mr. V8 933/7 “Yeti,” a past V8 Bull of the Year, further reinforcing the strength of this pedigree. On March 6, 2025 Miss V8 997/6 entered the Register of Renown, making every female on the bottom side of 316/9’s five-generation pedigree a Register of Renown female.

Mr. V8 316/9 is no stranger to the show ring winner’s circle, having earned Grand Champion Bull titles at San Antonio, the 2024 Kickoff Classic, and The Brahman Event. His balance, muscle, and structural correctness have made him a favorite among judges, and now, he takes his place in V8 history as the 2025 Bull of the Year.

First Brahman Bull Semen Offering – V8 Ranch Stall Party

The V8 Ranch Bull of the Year is announced each year before the Houston Livestock Show’s International Brahman Show.

To celebrate, the first offering of Mr. V8 316/9 semen was made available domestically at the V8 Ranch Stall Party, held Wednesday, March 5, 2025. This exclusive first release gave breeders an opportunity to invest in the future of V8 genetics before semen becomes more widely available. Foreign semen will be available in late spring, 2025.

Mr. V8 316/9 is the latest in a long line of premium bulls that have made a lasting impact on the V8 Ranch program—and those of our valued customers around the world.

In 2024, we made the difficult decision not to name a Bull of the Year. We had selected Mr. V8 80/9 “Maverick” to hold the title, but unfortunately, he passed away before we could make the announcement. Instead of simply choosing another bull to take his place, we felt it was right to honor Maverick’s memory by retiring the title with him that year. Sure, we could have easily picked another name for the sake of keeping up appearances or boosting sales, but that’s not how we do things at V8 Ranch.
